Supreme International Limited Company History

Supreme C.E.O - George Hunerfauth George Hunerfauth was born in Kusnacht, Switzerland. From early on, George had an interest in the agriculture industry. He attended an agriculture college in Switzerland and in June of 1951 set his sights on Canada, landing in Toronto via a steam ship.

In June of 1952, after convincing his employer Swiss Steiner Ltd. to import one of the first of two Claas Combines to Canada, George started his journey across Canada hauling the combines behind Jeeps and providing demonstrations along the way. He continued his trek province-by-province until arriving in Alberta and finally in Wetaskiwin. On December 15th, 1952, George decided to venture out on his own. He left Swiss Steiner and went on his first business trip to Claas Bros. in Germany. There he secured the distribution rights for Canada.

On May 15th, 1953, Alberta Engineering Limited was incorporated under Alberta law. Alberta Engineering held its first Shareholders and Directors meeting with the company’s first six shareholders.

In August of 1959, the construction of the new building under the name of Alberta Engineering commenced. We continued introducing new equipment and found that the company could not keep up with the demand. The company continued to grow and the number of employees grew to approximately forty-five. Alberta Engineering was a going concern, however we found in 1978 that the name was not reflective of the business. The decision was made to make a name change to Alteen Distributors.

During these 40 years, George successfully introduced many new products to the North American market including discs, rakes, combines, feeders, mixers, hammer mills, manure wagons, balers and tillers. This impressive ability to introduce and establish new equipment helped to jumpstart four well respected factories in North America, including Claas in the State of Virginia, Vicon Rake Manufacturing in Manitoba, Alteen Tandem Discs and Schafer Plow Co. located in Pratt, Kansas and Lely Liquid Manure Spreaders in Ontario.
In the late 1980s, George, in the visionary manner that he has become known for, asked the question, “Why are we using square boxes to mix cattle feed when throughout history man has proven time and time again that round bowls are better for mixing”? Especially when in today’s market, beef and milk production is so important. George was well rooted in the community and his ability to read future markets and not be intimidated by the risks; at the age of 62, set in motion in 1992 the decision to close the doors to his company of 40+ years (Alteen Distributors Ltd.) and refocus the Company on manufacturing farm equipment under the new name of Supreme International Limited.
Supreme International Limited became the first company in North America to design, test and manufacture the VERTICAL FEED PROCESSOR. The innovative methods used in the initial research and development consisted of bringing in several key farm owners from all over North America and asking their opinions on what they needed. Who better to ask? This was a costly and informative venture and was pivotal in the direction that the company would take. Over the next 12 years Supreme revolutionized the livestock feeding industry by adding many new innovative features to the vertical processor that enabled livestock producers to feed their cattle more efficiently allowing them to lower their feed costs and improve their gains.
The versatility and durability of the Supreme has improved efficiency on livestock farms in the Middle East, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, United Kingdom, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Russia, Mexico, Indonesia, Costa Rica, Hungary and all across the USA and Canada. Supreme’s reputation in the livestock industry has grown to the point that Supreme has a worldwide dealer network. Supreme has become the benchmark for quality throughout the World and the name Supreme has become synonymous with the words PERFORMANCE and RELIABILITY.
With five patents for Supreme Vertical Feed Processors and by centralizing all research and development and marketing efforts on the cattle side of agriculture, Supreme has maintained a comfortable growth since inception even with the unpredictable nature of the agriculture industry.
But Supreme didn’t stop there. In the last five years George recognized that the ever growing Environmental industry was also looking for ways to decrease waste by improving the recycling process. The challenge was how to efficiently process and blend the different waste commodities of varying densities and moisture content in one machine, as the current mixers of the day were unable to process these commodities together. With a strong team of designers, George and Supreme met that challenge head on with the introduction of the Supreme Enviro Processor.
The Enviro processor has taken the Compost industry by storm. It was designed to process and blend waste commodities such as, bio-solids, vegetable waste, grocery waste, animal mortalities and wood waste in any combination. The result is a thorough and accurate mixture with a consistent and even distribution of moisture and porous materials throughout the mix. All of this results in a quicker compost process and a more consistent product.
So sure of the product, Supreme International Limited is the only company that guarantees the performance of the vertical processor with a 1-year money back guarantee.
Supreme International Limited continues to be a family run private company rich with history and continues to lead the way with innovation, quality, durability and dependability. George continues to be active in the company and continues to lead the way with Supreme innovations.
